Seattle!

Good lord, I’m tired.

Got up at 4:30 am (!!!) and caught a flight to Memphis, and thence to Seattle. I’m now cozily ensconced in Jeff’s office chair, checking my various accounts and affirming that I’m still in the same universe. I thought I’d lost it for a minute when I looked at the landscape flying in and realized that they have more than two types of tree here. Absolutely mind-blowing. In San Antonio, there’s cedar and live oak. That’s basically it, unless you count juniper bushes as trees.

I sewed up the seams on the jacket for Alexander on the first flight, and I got through a good chunk of the Bucket o’Chic hat from chicknits.com on the second. I need to get a bigger circular (or a set of like eight dpns) to work on the brim though, as I’m using a dense viscose yarn that does not squish at all. Squish Factor Nada.

If we’ve both got enough energy, Amanda’s going to take me to a local yarn store later today. She’s also apparently got a friend who might have a violin that I could borrow/rent for a couple of days so that I can practice. I like to travel light, so I did not bring my fiddle up here with me. Which means four straight days of no practice, which my instructor, the Violin Dominatrix, would not like.

(Just kidding, Jane. She’s really not that bad.)

For basically sitting on my butt all day, I am absolutely exhausted. I think I’ve dozed off twice just writing this out. But I’m on vacation.

I need this. I’ve been getting progressively more irritable and impatient at work (sorry, guys). My emotions are bouncing all over the place. Time to get it back together.

Breathe in,
breathe out.

Repeat.

Soon I get to see Celeste and Jemiah again for the first time in a decade. I’m looking forward to catching up with them.
