All this week I have felt wiped out. I don’t know if it was allergies, or being out of shape, going back on some of my meds, or what; but I have been half asleep on my feet since Monday.
This morning I got out of bed at 9:30 and felt much, much better. What a luxury to be able to stay in bed that long. Now if I can just force myself to stick to a decent schedule, I should be able to stay current on my sleep.
After some coffee and a breakfast bar, I applied all the necessary creams and unctions for 10 mile ride down to the Yarn Barn. (Relax, I’m talking about sunblock. Mostly.) It occurred to me that I really love the smell of sun screen. I have always associated it with early morning bike rides, a setting which to me is the essence of optimism and hope. The bike rides that I go out for are not physically easy affairs. It takes determiniation to get up early and go out for a fifty mile spin, even if it does have route support. So every time I find myself in a clutch of like-minded, Lycra-clad, crazy-eyed, sunblock-lathered cyclists, I feel really good. Those are people that I admire, and the fact that I can be part of the group makes me feel elated.
So, anyway, I like the smell of sunscreen. It was wafting into my nostrils as I rode South to The Yarn Barn, where I got to see many of my knitting friends, and where my needles clickty-clacked for about four hours as I worked on CDS:

It’s finally looking sweater-like! I’m so happy with this! I should have it done just in time for the 4th of July weekend. Oh, the irony. Happy Summer, kiddo! Here’s a sweater! ![]()

CDS is looking great, and what a lovely color…you must knit as fast as you ride to have gotten so much done at the Yarn Barn! Happy Monday!

You seem to be watching some dark and obscure movies lately. I’m glad your posts are relatively optimistic or I’d start to worry about you.

Katxena,
Thanks! Chris picked it out - his daughter likes purple.
Michelle,
I guess my movie list is a little grim, eh? Never fear - this weekend I’m going to be around my three nephews, so we’ll be watching stuff like Lilo & Stitch and various Muppet movies. Good, cheery stuff.

David, I thought Kelly might be interested in this petition about restoring international family planning funds:

I emailed this to you, but it bounced with a reason of: Status: 5.2.2 (Over quota)

I have to second the color choice.
And you must knit at a fierce speed to get that much done.
Now you just need to try spinning..haha.
