Dude, listen to your mom. Go to the doc and get a scrip for some antibiotics. I hate taking medicine and going to the doctor, too... but if you haven't beat a bug in 2 days, chances are you're not going to beat it without the help of medicine. A sinus infection is way different from a head cold, and if it's bad enough to pull you out of work then you probably won't shake it with chicken noodle soup alone.

I also found that the "val salva" (sp? MOM, is that right? :) trick helped relieve some of the pressure. Pinch yer nose and blow gently until your ears pop. Helped me get some sleep last summer while I was waiting for the meds to do their thing.

I prescribe a nice hot-toddy[Warmed Irish Whiskey, drop of lemon juice - for the vit C,you know ! - and honey to taste ] and dozing in front of the box.
Knitting whilst feverish usually results in frogging !
Get better soon - Summer colds always seem worse.

FOR GOD'S SAKE, NO MORE YARN!!!
I'm swimming in stash. I've stopped wearing clothes around the house; I just run a thread through thirty or forty balls and hanks and drape them over myself.
But you're very kind to offer, Daphne.

David,

To be fair, there has been a bad outbreak of Republicanitis here in recent years, be we are working on an anecdote.

Regarding Californians laughing themselves silly--what do you expect from the land of fruits and nuts? :-)

Sheryl,
I'm sure the average Californian would laugh themself silly thinking about Texans warning about funny diseases in California. :-)

I eat a ton of garlic in my normal diet though, so rest assured, I should burn through this plenty quick.

Didn't anyone warn you about the funny little diseases they have in California?

More unsolicited advice: There's a ton of scientific research out there suggesting that ground garlic causes your body to create more white blood cells. (If you eat it that is.) Cooking doesn't hurt either, so I always make myself garlic toast with fresh garlic.

Maybe it's for the best I didn't meet up with you in Dixon... could be walking around excessively sick right now. Or perhaps the operative phrase would be "lying around on the couch like a sack of potatoes watching TiVo." Oh wait - I'm doing that anyway. (well, that and daily ashtanga yoga workouts).
