The Sakiori is nearing completion: I’ve added the seed stitch border to one side. I need to do the other side, then do the collar area, then add toggles and i-chord loops. Then wash & block and it will be done. I can’t wait. Most of the rest of the work is picking up stitches, […]

Today is my day off, so I took advantage of it by sleeping in waaaay late and then riding the new bike in to work. I know that I’m slower on this new bike, so I was a little surprised when it took me the same amount of time to get downtown. I think the […]

I saw something yesterday on my bike ride that was so beautiful, I almost cried. I crested a hill and looked up to see a complete 180° rainbow against a background of grey clouds. I really wish I’d had a camera, but even if I did, it would not have captured what I saw. Amazing.

I just got busted for practicing my violin inside. The building I work in has a sub-street level walkway that connects it to a hotel across the street. The entrance to the building is an open atrium that looks down on the walkway, so any sounds produced in the walkway travel up pretty well. When […]

I haven’t worked on the sakiori in two days. I’m really close though, and tonight I’m going to try and get some more work done. I think I’ve got maybe five hours left on it. I discovered that my measurements were screwed up though. The vest is composed of four large panels and two small […]

Good News: My A/C is fixed. It was only out for about 24 hours. Apparently a capacitor on the condenser blew. Yeah, watever. Cold air is coming out of my ceiling again, and I’m happy. Good/Bad News: My new ‘bent (that’s bicycle geek speek for “recumbent”, which is what my new bike is) is a […]

The Bad News: My apartment’s air conditioning is out. It’s now 86 degrees in my bedroom. I wonder if that would ever be an effective pickup line? The Good News: I went for an hour bike ride today when I got home from work. I hacked a little and my body is definitely in need […]

These have got to be the cutest, fattest little apostles I have ever seen. My question is, does the pattern for Judas include some knit guts that will burst out when you hang him? Great way to use up bits of stash.

My apologies to everyone that I’ve misinformed over the past week – the two skeins of warmy snuggly softness that I brought back from California are Mohair, not Alpaca. My mistake. As the Mohair Council of America reminds us, mohair, “. . . long treasured for its strength, luster, and feel, has symbolized style and […]
