Is that . . . Autumn?

I’m sure it’s just wishful thinking, but the weater in San Antonio this weekend was positively Autumnal. Last Thursday a big wave of thunderstorms swept through, bringing 3″ of rain and a ten-degree drop in temperatures. The sky promptly cleared up afterwards and we’ve had this absolutely gorgeous weather all weekend.

I met with a couple of friends on Saturday morning to go hiking in a local park. Even though we got turned around and spent about an hour longer on the trail than we expected, we didn’t drop from deydration and/or heat exhaustion at the end. What a strange experience! I could get used to this not hot weather thing.

Yesterday I spent most of the day on my butt in front of the TV working on the Sooper Sekrit Projekt. I’ve almost exhausted the first skein of Lamb’ Pride Worsted. It has a lot of cabling in it which is showing up beautifully. Around 5:00 I went over to Kelly’s with a bag of veggies and some hard tofu and made a big pot of curry with bell peppers, potatoes, onion and garlic. It was nummy. We watched more TV, flipping between Fried Green Tomatoes and Payback. Kind of surreal. I continued to knit. When we were done and the sun was setting, we went into her back yard and sat under a huge pecan tree, optimistically sipping hot cocoa. The sunset splashed bright gold and red across layers of clouds.

Morgan, one of the Golden Retrievers, discovered that toad’s butts do not taste good.

This was a good weekend. I only hope it does not return to blistering hot before Winter.

Autumn is absolutely my favorite time of year. I love to walk and look at the changing leaves and just enjoy not sweating to death. Also gives me a reason to pull Na Craga out of the corner and start working on her. :D

Yeah, it’s great not tracking asphalt in the house with my shoes.

Toad’s legs, on the other hand…poor Morgan. Foamy puppy is not a happy puppy.
