M-m-must S-s-slow D-d-down. . .

Okay, NO MORE NEW PROJECTS THIS YEAR. I’ve got four projects on the needles on the end of my sofa right now, two next to my bed, and one still in the bag.

Here’s the status of each one as of last night:

Glittens: forgive me, Stacey. I’m using really crappy green acrylic yarn that the ladies at the Yarn Barn gave me a couple years ago for charity knitting. It’s the only thing I could find that seemed to be in the right gauge. I’ve cast on and done about five rows of the cuff.

Aran: picked up the second sleeve, made a new knitting abacus to keep track of where I am. I’m just at four rows of this sleeve, which means I’ve got roughly 100 rows to go. The way I figure it, I am 3/5 done with the sweater.

B(l)og Jacket: one of my bedside projects. Um, maybe 1/4 done? I’m not worried about finishing this this year.

Caper Hat: my second caper hat this month. Remember how hot women inspire me to knit? This was started for an extremely comely bartender at a local pub. Unfortunately, the pub has changed ownership, so this hat currently has nobody to go to. Not a priority.

Candle Flame Shawl: I need to make a graph to keep working on this. The written instructions make my eyes cross. This is a good opportunity for me to do some more work on my cable grapher, because one of the things that it does not know how to do yet is handle a pattern that has increasingly wide rows. I’ll probably make notes on how to implement that while I’m writing the graph by hand. This is a priority, the software update isn’t.

Sooper Sekrit Projekt: chugging along. This will definitely be ready by Christmas.

Sleeveless Pullover: Siridar Ultra Denim, baby! Last time I did this pattern it took a week. Gotta love it. This is still in the bag, but I want to have it finished by Christmas as well. This, incidentally, is taking the place of the bulky pullover from The Knitting Experience 2.

Garter Stitch Scarf: Been working on this for the longest time. It is yet another Christmas present. I could probably finish this in two evenings if I put my mind to it.

Oh, and I’m going to work on half of a project with a friend. We’re geographically separated, so they’re going to mail me yarn, needles and the pattern. I’m going to do my half and mail it back so they can do the finishing. That’s another Christmas present.

Ugh. Nine projects, five of which need to be done by Christmas, and the Aran has to be done by November 10th. Must budget time, must budget time…

Oh great, spoil it for me. Did I mention I haven’t had a chance to read Order of the Phoenix yet becuase I’ve been too busy knitting?

It’s been hashed to death by every knitter on the planet by now, but I still love the fact that Hagrid was knitting on the train in the first book.
