Aran on Hold

Well, it’s not quite where I wanted it to be, but I did wear my Aran sweater on my birthday.

Now it’s going on hold again for a while. I need to make progress on the Sooper Sekrit Projekt, the candle flame shawl (aka panties) and another Christmas project. I’ll return to the Aran anon.

For my birthday, I got a couple of really outstanding gifts. I went to Simi’s Indian Cuisine for dinner with Kelly, Mike, and Edwin and had Shrimp Masala and garlic naan. And for the first time in about a year, I didn’t get a horrible outbreak of thrush after eating there. Nothing against Simi’s – this is some kind of allergic reaction that I’ve developed since I got diabetes – but there’s an ingredient they use that just gives me a nasty time. I’ve decided to eat just one or two things each time I go there to try and figure out what it is I react to. So far, the shrimp and the garlic naan are safe, which is great news. I could live on that for a month.

On the way home I swung by the bar where Sophie works to see if she’d got the hats for her boys. I’d left a package for her last week. Turns out she hadn’t got it, but she ran into the back to look for it when I asked her. She came back out with a huge grin and gave me a big hug in the middle of the bar. So I got to leave there with the satisfaction of having gotten a warm embrace from the hottest chick in the bar. Yum.

So, a hug and no thrush. And Kelly gave me a set of Denise interchangeable circular needles, which absolutely ROCKS. I think I might try one of the Christmast projects on them.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, folks. I had a great day and I really appreciate it.

The sweater looks great. Are you sure you don’t want to bind it off and just have a really slutty Chippendale’s style cropped aran?
