Crank Crank Crank
Last night, Ruth and I had a true stitch and bitch. She brought a little white sweater whose buttons kept breaking and replaced them all. I brought the Aran and cranked along happily for an hour or two.
I surprised myself by bitching at great length about work problems. Kinda fun - I rarely let that stuff out.
I also had a rare chance to use my English degree by proofing a couple of essays that Ruth was writing for some grad school applications.
Sitting there in the Candlelight Coffee House with a mostly done sweater on my lap, papers and pencil in hand, I felt positively cosmopolitan. Maybe it’s all the Sex and the City I watched last weekend, but I’m getting the urge to visit a big city again. Perhaps I’ll go visit Austin and get a fix. Or maybe some more serious travel is in order.

I am jealous. SXSW is happening soon. Best time I ever had was watching friends play in Austin at the festival.
But I think you should finish the Aran and go somewhere cool (pun intended).

Dave, if you do make it up to Austin let me know… I’ll be speaking at SXSW:

You’re always welcome in NYC, too! We have good biking, and some OK knitting stores, too.

Hey, I’m talking relative big here. I live in San Antonio. The biggest cultural event we have around here is First Friday, which is great and all, but it’s not exactly the kind of cultural happening that I like to imagine goes on in other places.
Or maybe I’m just full of it.

OK I have to laugh, too, at Austin being city-like. Don’t get me wrong, I love Austin so much and miss it every day, but even Portland (OR) is a bigger city… and it’s relatively small. At least you’re not getting the urge to go to Houston or Dallas/FW. Then I’d really worry
