Meet the Old Fellow

I’m not sure how old my new violin really is, but the name “The Old Fellow” keeps popping into my mind when I think of it. You’ve got to admit, it certainly looks ancient.

the old fellow

Unfortunately, I’m still not skilled enough to get my finger placement right without some visual aids, so at my lesson tonight Jane is probably going to have to put some gold tape on the fingerboard.

Today at lunch I’ll do another spin on the ‘bent around downtown San Antonio and check out all the Fiesta events. That’ll be the exercise for today. This weekend I’m going to get in some longer rides, probably by riding to the Yarn Barn and back. The ladies don’t seem to mind it if I’m a little sweaty when I show up.

And Enjay, I started on your kufi yesterday! Yippee! You’ve got about the same size head as I do, so I’m pretty sure I have the guage down for what you need.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I am late for work and still wearing my bathrobe. I’m going to mix some black coffee with my insulin, key up the Monster Magnet album I bought from the iTunes store last night, and drive way to fast to try and wake up. Watch out for the Accord with the bike rack and the Apple sticker, because I ain’t stopping.

Oooh, I got a snarky comment! Now I feel like a real blogger.

    Oh, and “English” is capitalized.

Monster Magnet…wow…hadn’t thought about them in years. Friends of mine were friends with them back in Jersey in the late eighties, early nineties. I spent New Years Eve 1992 in one of their apartments and now I can’t even remember their names… We had seen them open for Mudhoney the night before and Mark Arm had puked on his amp. Ah, those were the days.

Aw! That’s a very nice violin. Mine looks about that old too. 😛 And don’t be ashamed of having tape on your fingerboard. I have White-Out on mine and I’ve been playing for ten years! lol
