Err, whoops

I cranked away on Saturday on the candleflame shawl and I’m very happy with the progress I made. Unfortunately, I was using a row counter (one of the knitting abaci left over from the Aran) and I screwed up the pattern at the point where I had the counter on the needle. The result was this:

the problem is that where I should have done a make 3, I blew right by it and purled the stitch instead. So in the seventh row of candle flames, I’m a flame short.

Kaetchen and Spoon, don’t touch that.

As you can see, I tried to rip back to the point where the flame should have started, but I could not seem to make it work. So I’m going to pack the shawl into my bag and rip the whole thing at lunch today.

This is another busy week for me. The candleflame shawl is going to take a lot of time if I’m to finish it by Sunday, and I have a lot of work to do for my consulting gig by Tuesday evening. And let’s see, there’s something else - oh yeah, my JOB. Plenty to keep me busy at work this week. So it looks like my fiddling is going to suffer a bit this week. I’ll practice, don’t worry; but it’s not going to get as much time as I’d like.

To try and keep the cycling going, I’m going to take advantage of the excellent weather we’re having just now and ride to work.

I know its off topic for this post, but i came across this page after googling for knitting graphers. You wouldn’t have happened to have released the code for the cable grapher, would you?

Yikes ! I like the new look.Rather like the shirt too.

Why not just rip back to where you made the mistake ? Use a finer circular needle & insert through the back of the stitches the row below your mistake. Then rip down to the life=line. This = an old lace knitters’ trick, and,by jove,it works !!!

Oh heavens, Emma, I didn’t mean I was going to rip it out completely! Sorry, bad choice of words on my part. I ripped the whole thing back to where I made the mistake, then fixed it. I’m not that much of a perfectionist and I certainly don’t have the time to begin again!

You could always make it a candle flame kerchief.
