Daddy got a new pair of shoes

Friday was a really cruddy day. I was irritated when I got into work – I forget why now – and immediately started hitting technical problems. Normally I like solving problems, but these were web server configuration issues. I hardly ever work with web server configurations, so I don’t know much about them.

Sometimes I can get into those kinds of problems, but on Friday I just kept getting more and more frustrated. I started snapping at my co-workers. I realized I was in a downward spiral, so finally I got on my bike and went for a ride to calm down and clear my head.

On the ride, I passed by Bike World and decided to go inside and window-shop. They mostly carry Trek and Le Mond bikes; I favor Specialized. But they had a nice selection of shoes, and I tried on some Sidi and Nike models. By the time I walked out, I’d bought myself a new pair of Nikes with carbon fiber soles and nice ventilation in the uppers.

When I got back to work, I felt a lot better and managed to make some progress. Then it hit me.

I’ve been knitting for a few years now, so that’s no big news. But in the last couple of weeks I got a completely new hairstyle and cheered myself up by buying shoes.

I’m a woman.

(See, Kelley – Python has nothing to do with it.)

Okay, enough of this silliness.

Over the weekend, I went for a great bike ride to try out the new shoes. They’re excellent. And it was a rare ride that I thoroughly enjoyed. I was on FM 1340 between Hunt and Mountain Home for about half of it and on 41 between Mountain Home and Junction for the other half. I saw lots of cattle and exotics on some of the ranches out there, and flowers. More flowers than I’ve ever seen out there. It was just incredible.

On Sunday, Dan and I took my grandmother Mary out to brunch. I showed her the shawl, such as it is. I think I may have enough yarn after all to finish it, but there’s a lot more work to do. She told me to come back up there when it’s done.

Hey, Matty showed me this today. I love your shawl for Grandma Mary. We have to take a picture of the brown scarf you made me. Everyone wants to know where I bought it. I tell them that it is an exclusive David Roth. LOL!
No to be a true “Girl” you would have also gotten a Mani-Pedi. LOL!

The kind of job where they make you write Python code.

And yes, Python is obviously to blame for this… just why exactly did you need cheering up in the first place?

    Uh-huh.

So do we get to see the new haircut? (Have I already missed it? I’ve been blog-negligent the past few weeks. Is this my punishment?)

I want to know what kind of job lets you take off for long enough during a workday to go for a bike ride, buy shoes and question your gender identity!

*Clearly* I’m in the wrong place!
