Blech

Ech. I’m sick. My throat is sore and I’ve got a pounding headache. Last night I threw up before going to bed.

It’s a cold medicine-and-ginger-ale kind of day. I stayed home from work, although I probably already infected everyone yesterday. Mostly I tried to sleep, but I couldn’t quite get there. So I set up the swift and ball winder and wound up several of the skeins of yarn that I bought at Kid ‘n Ewe this weekend.

My favorite is the Brooks Farm Harmony:

This skein is going to become a pinwheel hat for my grandmother and possibly a pair of glittens. I also got a plain black one that’s going to become caper hats. My mom bought a pretty sea-foam colored one which I wound up for her today. Don’t know what it’s going to turn out to be.

One of my other purchases turned out to be something of a disappointment. It’s this rough handspun brown stuff. It feels good to the touch, but I think it was demonstration spinning. The yarn is broken is several places and the skein is just a mess. About half the skein was double-stranded and half was single-stranded. And I don’t mean plied; I mean the first half of the skein is a single thread that was folded over on itself before it was skeined. I don’t know if I’m going to bother with it.

    Purty. I like the colors.

Hope you feel better. Remember that diet Vernor’s is the cure-all.

Kaetchen, any chance you’re from Michigan? I thought we only had Vernor’s here. :)

It is the cure-all for everything. Hope you feel better, David. I’m going through the same crap right now, so I know how you feel. Add that on to three finals in the next two weeks and a hellish semester to come in January and I start to wonder what the hell I’m thinking getting up in the morning. :)

Hope the cure-all soup (garlic, lime, egg, etc.!) did the trick and you are feeling better!(Gute Besserung AKA Get well soon.) Enjoying your site. See you in 2 weeks at the YB.
Happy Thanksgiving and I’ll bake a pumpkin pie for the Sat. knit group soon!
