Theory of Hell, revision 2

I have updated my theory of hell. Although being trapped in dark waffle-lust is indeed terrible, I am currently experiencing and even higher level of discomfort.

I went kayaking with friends this weekend (and had a GREAT time). Just before this, I engaged in my ritual yearly head-shaving. I didn’t use a razor this time, just the clippers, so I’ve got a very stylish military-looking buzz going on. But apparently the sunscreen I slathered on my head was not very waterproof.

Hell is trying to listen to music on your headphones at work with a sunburned scalp. Ow. Ow. Ow.

Solar hyperexposure aside, I had an absolutely lovely weekend. I made a grocery run on Saturday morning from my mom’s house to the nearest store, which was 45 minutes away. I didn’t have a car, so my mom lent me her little convertible Miata to drive to town in. Very sweet ride.

After I got back, we did the kayak adventure. Then we returned home and my stepfather made canapés while my mom roasted some chickens and I made my first-ever vegetarian entreé: curried lentil burritos with spicy herb and yoghurt sauce. Oh my god, they were wonderful. I brought all the leftover filling and sauce home with me so I can serve it to one of my vegetarian co-workers tomorrow.

Food, fun and friends. Summer’s on the way.

Hey, I said summer is on the way, not that it’s full-on here. Just be glad I didn’t take any pictures to torment you all with. Mu-ha-ha-ha-ha!

Hey bro – summer may be on the way where *you* are, but here in New Mexico we’ve had four inches of snow so far this afternoon. I’m not kidding. And I’m also not sure my husband is going to be able to get up the hill to get home!

I can’t WAIT to get back to Texas!
