I like the idea of a shawl with shoulders. For me, it sounds like something that requires me to sit still with someone else's pattern, so I can't see making one (I'd rather do an Einstein Jacket or something else by Sally Melville, if I could choose something not written by me). But I will be very interested to hear what you have to say about the process!

I think Lucy Neatby has some faroese designs, as well as Jacquie Erickson-Schweitzer. I think.

By the way I now have a favicon.ico that is actually displaying. I just noticed it yesterday. I don't know why it didn't work right away and now it sneaks in without me noticing, but I'm pleased that it worked at all. Yours is clearer, but mine is... well, it's me.

Ooh, yeah, nothing induces knitting lust quite like the prospect of Faroese shawls, I think! I have been wanting to make one for some time! And plus the Faro Islands themselves are rather fascinating. Keep us posted on how it goes!

Faroese shawls are the best.

If you want to try out a mini-version, starting with just a few sts cast on, there's a 'doll' version here:
http://www.heartstringsfiberarts.com/dollyfaroese.shtm

And a template of sorts here:
