Chok-LIT!!!!
I am so cranked on chocolate and coffee right now, it’s not even funny. Don’t worry, I shot up with the good ol’ Humalog first. It’s just that my sleep patterns have been really bad lately. Every time I wake up early, I either clean the kitchen or bake something. This morning I fell asleep at 1 and woke up at 5. So I made brownies.
A couple brownies and a few cups of coffee to wash them down with, and I’m in one productive mood.
So, a quick update: the body of the Bastille Cables is done. I swear I’ll post pictures soon. I need to pick up the sleeves and get them going, and they shouldn’t take too long.
I also have been practicing my crochet. I’m only doing single crochet right now, and I am having the darndest time holding the work and the needle hook comfortably. I need to watch some other crocheters work and figure out how to do this.
I also recently splurged and bought myself a new Brother 5500 sewing machine. I want to figure out how to make my own kilts. And probably curtains too. And maybe shirts. And heck, how hard can pants really be? And . . .
That’s mostly just the coffee speaking. But I really do want to learn to sew.
Outside of that stuff, I’ve been flirting shamelessly with Pippy (who has a cute damn dog) and debating with other geeks about a recent affair involving Linus Torvalds (father of Linux), Larry McVoy (father of BitKeeper), and Andy Tridgell (father of Samba). If you know, you know. Most of my stuff has been posted to Groklaw, but I also had one response to Bruce Perens on /. someplace. It’s a really interesting situation, because I empathize with and respect pretty much everyone involved. Except Perens. He’s being a twit.

I would suggest beginning with a really simple pair of pants: drawstring or elastic casing first, zippered flies later! Hope the brownies were the double double chocolate kind!

Ditto to Suzy. Try a pair in fleece, which is super-easy to work with, because you don’t have as much concern about grain. And dude, take a class. There’s a lot to learn and it can get expensive otherwise.
