Weekend Swatch-Fest
In order to help teach the women at work* about knitting, I sat down today and watched a few DVDs while I cranked out these four swatches. The point here is to illustrate a few of the things you can do with just knit and purl stitches. No color work, no cables, just basic stitches.

*We’re waiting word on two guys. Cross your fingers.

Um honey, did you block those swatches?

I would have if I knew how to block crappy acrylic.
They’re not museum pieces by any means, but they work as teaching aids.

Examples are always good. I like the seed stitch too as it show what k1, p1 can do besides ribbing. Maybe that was next on the agenda. Isn’t it exciting when we help others discover the joys of knitting? I have inspired several knitters to take up their needles again this past year at work/school AND converted a crocheter to knitting! She is a knitting demon now–she says she knits so much she gets cramps in her hands and fingers. Keep up the good work!

Remember how I told you I’m doing stuff to my knitting and it doesn’t look right? I thought I was doing knit and purl stitches on the practice swatch? You’ve just proven my point. I’m doing both unintentionally
Now that my mind is at ease, I’ll have to get the 2 seperate stitches down BEFORE I try to design something w/both!
