See, I’ve been knitting
The Fenna at about five weeks:
So what is the gestation period for a shawl? I guess we’ll find out. I did a couple of rows last night while watching The Fantastic Four, which met my expectations very well. Except for the Dr. Doom character. Warning, mild spoilers follow:
I’ve read a lot of comics in my day, and for a while, The Fantastic Four was one of my favorites. Thanks to the MLLL at Reed, I’ve had the chance to read a lot of the original early issues of that mag. So I went into the movie with certain expectations, and the only ones that were really dashed were the ones regarding Doom.
1. He should totally have a European accent. He’s a monarch of a small country, for crying out loud.
2. He did not have any real super powers! An aptitude for alchemy and magic, yes, but he certainly did not get the Colossus treatment and turn into living metal.
3. He and Sue Storm never had anything going. Where the hell did that come from?
So those bits let me down a little. And the dynamic between Reed and Susan was very much altered from the comics. But they absolutely pegged Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm’s characters.
Now I’m off to slurp down a couple cups of coffee and hook up with the ladies down at the Yarn Barn. Have a great weekend, true believers.
