I finally got a hold of a SATA external enclosure for my poor dead hard drive. And it turns out it’s only mostly dead. Wheh. My last couple of years of pictures and music and movies are safe.
I plan to do a lot of backing up this weekend.

I just read an article in the San Francisco Chronicle about the recent completion of a project to sequence the genome of Canis Familiaris, a.k.a. the dog. And once again the article talks the genes and how great it’s going to be to find the genes that cause certain traits.

Actually, I see dozens of these guys every morning. There’s a stretch of parkway with these really tall street lamps that are perfect perches for the buzzards, and they congregate there in the morning.

I’ve seen glass knitting needles a couple of times at festivals, but only ornamental ones. This morning, I ran across these. Pyrex knitting needles!!! I really want to get some of these.
