Obsessions are Weird
When I was going to Reed, my friend Jemiah (one of the ten coolest human beings in history) told me about this movie she watched every once in a while. I could never remember the name of it, just that there was this guy in it who would occasionally throw his hands up in the air and yell “CAN YOU DIG IT???”
Well, a big ol’ light went off in my head a few weeks ago when I saw the TV ad for the new game from Rockstar, The Warriors. Rockstar is that borderline psychotic company that makes the Grand Theft Auto games, among others. At the end of the ad, there was a scene from the game with this guy throwing his hands up in the air and yelling “CAN YOU DIG IT???” Eureka!
Now I don’t know why, but since then I have become completely obsessed with The Warriors, both the 1979 movie and the 2005 game. Thanks to the miracle of Netflix, I’ve seen the movie now. It was not so stirring that I’ll be adding it to my collection, but it was a fun way to pass a couple of hours. The game I have not yet played. I’m working through The Price of Persia: The Two Thrones right now and I usually only do one game at a time.
As soon as I can find my camera, I’ll put up some shots of the first sock attempt.
Happy 2006, everyone!

I also am in the midst of my first sock! Great minds think alike, huh?! Trying to get to one of my goals for 2006 ASAP! (Also found sock yarn at the YB on sale-hey, who can pass up a yarn especially when on sale?!) Happy New Year!

I’m also playing Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. It’s my very first PS2 game and I suck at using those controllers! My boyfriend and I trade off between deaths so neither of us gets too frustrated… though the PS2 did freeze on a reload during the chariot race thing the other night, which was bad.
I’m nearing completion on my first pair of socks in two and a half years. For some reason these are going much better than any other socks I’ve ever knit. Good luck to you
Happy New Year!

The Warriors was one of my faves back when I was a youngster, can you see me now, 8th grade? Watching with my little punk-ass friends. Ha.
Sock knitting is highly addictive! And its good for you!
