Behold the socky goodness

I realized yesterday that there is no way in hell that I’m going to finish a pair of knee-high socks during the Knitting Olympics. That is unless I go without sleep, or grow another pair of hands so that I can type and knit at the same time. But I’m happy with the way this one is going so far.
I know it’s old news by now, but I was going back over the President’s State of the Union address yesterday and I couldn’t help but chuckle at his call for improvement in math and science education. It’s a message that I completely agree with, but it’s funny coming from a man whose party has such utter contempt for science.

Do you really think you won’t be able to finish the knee-hi’s? Really? I think you can. In fact I double do dare you.

I thought the whole point of the knitting Olympics was to forego sleep in favor of knitting….
You know the FDA hasn’t had a permanent administrator in forever, either - another sign that this is not something the administration really care about. Or at least - that what they care about is making sure that appointees toe their line, which is not a very science-friendly one.
(And congratulations for making it back from Gruene!)

And George W. had such wonderful ideas for Texas education, too! I have a great fear that focusing on math and science will cause the demise of the fine arts in public school. (Not to mention foreign languages, except, of course, Spanish as we all know just how strong the Spanish speaking countries are to global economy!) Alas, I am a bit biased as I teach a fine art and a language-not Spanish. Just a language used by the European economic powerhouse!
