First Weekend’s Progress

Here’s the beginning of the kilt hose. A sock kit, if you will:

I bought a new set of rosewood needles for this project, and so far they feel fantastic in my hands. They’re a definite improvement over bamboo, which surprises me because I’ve always loved bamboo needles. But at such small sizes, rosewood just feels softer and smoother.

And here is my progress as of about 10 p.m. last night:

I am way behind. I did a thumbnail calculation of how much I need to knit each day and it comes out to about 3 ¼ inches. I’m almost seven inches short right now. Gaah!!! It’s going to get faster from here on out because I begin the decreases shortly, but still . . . I am going to have to hustle to get this one done in eight days.

I love the needles! Are the Lantern Moon? I have a pair of palmwood single points that I love.

    Stacey,
No, not Lantern Moon, although I do love their needles. I actually didn’t register who made these - I just saw pretty dark needles and grabbed them. I’ll check the package when I get home.

Great start! Love the first sock, too - especially that two color heel.

Be sure to let us know what those needles are…I just snapped one of my Brittany bamboo size ones (darn it). Thank goodness I only need four for this pattern, but I will have to buy a new set now (gosh, an excuse to buy more knitting needles!)

The needles are beautiful - did you get them at Yarn Barn? And do they seem sturdier than bamboo? I’m working on size 1s right now, and broke a bamboo needle. I’ve switched to plastic, but don’t like them - the tips aren’t pointy enough….

I’m pretty sure the singular of hose is “ho”. LOL! I love the needles. Trying to enhance my dpn collection and might have to get some of those little beauties.
