Wednesday — how apropos

For verily, I am full of woe.

*sigh*

First, look up. See that header graphic? The closeup of the Saxon braid from my Aran? That graphic used to be nicely scaled and fit neatly with my WordPress theme. Not since the hard drive crash. I have no idea what happened – I’m using the same graphics and the same stylesheets.

Second, my Google ads aren’t showing up anymore. Again, I’m using the same templates as before. I need to get those up and running again.

And then there’s the knitting. I’m still in love with the idea of making socks, but it’s been a really rough start. The kilt hose didn’t work out the way I wanted, but I was taking solace in the idea of finishing the black socks. You know, the ones I started before the kilt hose. Well, I was working on the second one this weekend after turning the heel for the second or third time and realized that I did something utterly weird on the first one’s heel. It’s ribbed up to the point of the heel turn. Why I continued in ribbing that far down the sock is beyond me, but I did. And it seems like I was doing some freaky slip stitch thing with the ribbing too. Whatever I did, I have not been able to get the gauge of the second one to match the first one, so I’m going to have to rip out the second one back to where I joined in the reinforcing thread for the heel and try to reproduce what I did with the first one. Gaaaaaah!

And then there’s the insomina. I’ve been up since 4:00 am for no good reason and have not been able to get back to sleep. If the pattern from the last two mornings continues, I’ll finally drift off around six fifteen and then roused to a semi-stupor by my alarm at six thirty.

I blame Dick Cheney for all of this.

Update

I fixed the Google ads.  Yay, blog revenue.

And mad props to my pal DocWhat for squishing the header back to an agreeable size.

Dick Cheney is a good one to blame. Look at one of my icons. You’ll like it.

Were you doing a slip stitch heel flap?
    K1, s1 for a row
    P all the next row?
