Today’s the Day
. . . finally. I actually reserved the UHaul truck to carry stuff* to my new home.
Have I mentioned that I *hate* moving? I rate it below having a tarantula crawl up my arm. Of course that’s not really fair, since I had a pet tarantula for a while as a kid, but you get the point.
I’ve been throwing away crap I don’t need and moving what I do need out of the path of The Big Stuff so that in a couple of hours, Mike and I can take it all over to his place. And now as a brief moment of zen in the midst of this turmoil (and because I’ll need to power down the computer in a minute), here’s what I was working on yesterday in my knitting time.
A co-worker had a pair of knit gloves that had lost the tip of one of the thumbs. She asked me if I could patch them for her and I said sure. She never said that it had to match. The girls at the Yarn Barn yesterday had a lot of fun with this, suggesting that I try to find some yarn that clashed more. Another good idea was to do a ring on one of the fingers, either by cutting and grafting or by duplicate stitch. In the end, I figured just the thumb was enough.
Ripping back and getting the needles in:

sigh . . . makes me long for cool weather.

Good luck and remember: Lift with your legs not your back. Or else quick knit a weight belt.

I’m hoping by now that all is moved and you’re all in one piece. I, too, hate moving and hope I don’t need to do that again for a very long time.
The only good thing about moving is that I’m forced into clearing the junk.
Love the mitten – you’ll have to let us know the co-worker’s response.

Cute glove!
Hope you’re getting settled in the new place.

I love the glove repair…totally cool. I love the fact that it is a different color! And now my mind is also exploding with the notion of knitting in a big fat gemstone ring on my gloves, too. Love it.
