You guys are brilliant. Brilliant, I tell you!
I’m going to modify the saxon braid pattern (starting with the repeat I’m on right now) to make every third one a circle rather than an ellipse. Not because I’m too lazy to rip it out, but because that fix didn’t occur to me. I’d like to evolve into a Jeet Kune Do-style knitter who can adapt to deal with adversity, rather than only dealing with it in one way (ripping it out).
At least, that’s what I’m telling myself.

This is wonderful! You’re not only doing cabling in two colors (I’m so impressed), you’re modifying the pattern into something new! Go, you wild knitter!
