Happy Birthday Ya-Yas!
Nope, no knitting. I worked maybe three rows this weekend. Barely even worth mentioning. But I’ve got a darned good excuse!
This weekend was the birthday party for two of my mom’s Ya-Ya girlfriends. I was adopted (or indentured) as the photographer for the event, and let me tell you, that’s not easy. Taking pictures of knitting is much simpler because knitting does not run around and do stuff while you’re trying to capture it. People, on the other hand - especially people who are setting up for a big party or actually partying in that big party - are very mobile. They gather in places where half of them are in direct sunlight and the other half are in shadows. They bend over just as you’re snapping a shot and instead of a warm glowing smile, you get a full-on picture of their butt.
It’s tough. But fun.
I shot over 500 pictures over two evenings and managed to get some pretty decent shots. I also remembered to ask one of the other partygoers (Ya-Ya husband Eric) to take the camera and get an obligatory kilt shot for the blog.
Here’s a Ya-Ya in her natural habitat - sipping drinks by the pool.

And here’s a male knitter pretending to be much more macho than he really is.

I’m so with Rae…..a stogie smokin’ leg showin’ dude, thank you, I mean, you’re just damned easy on the eye… And a belated happy birthday to the Ya-Yas!

You are just…. trouble. I tell ya!
If you didn’t live in Texas…. *sighs*, oh well!

For a second, I thought you were going grey at the edge where your hair meets the white shirt in the background. And whoa, that works. And then it came to me: you’re going to pull a Clooney as you age. In other words, you are going to be HOT as a salt-and-pepper guy.

We missed you Sunday! All I can think when I look at the picture of you smoking is “Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.” Hehehe.

I’m still waiting for the kilt shot that lets us know if you stay true to the traditional for what goes on underneath.
I’ll know you’ll never show us.
But I’m still waiting anyhow

“And there behold for them to view beneath his Scottish skirt was nothing more then God had graced him with upon his birth.”
Forget the knitting, we just want to see kilt pics!

You know, I originally became a die-hard Sweater Project reader for the knitting and computer programming geeky parts. Now all I can think about is when do I get to see another of these kilt photos. If you weren’t so multi-talented I might find myself drooling over you solely as eye candy instead of having to appreciate the whole package so much. Tell me you have a doppelganger that lives in the midwest so I can stop wondering if I should visit Texas.
Oh, and the women at work are enthralled with the photos too. One of them wanted to know if you were single (she seems to think the distance is not a big problem!) I told her I was pretty sure you had mentioned in passing that you currently have a woman in your life.

I think a Sweater Project Calendar is the next step.

If there is ever a Sweater Project Calender….. I claim March to have David standing on a cliff in his kilt a la romance novelly with knitting. I mean, it was afterall my fantasy…err… I mean… um… yeah.

Ok, you post pictures of yourself *wearing clothes* and you get a jillion comments. I post my (almost) naked breasts and I get two.
Its not fair!!!
You are looking handsome and extra manly-man with that cigar, its true! And I would pay cash money for the Sweater Project Kilt Calendar.

I think an eye-candy comment would probably be inappropriate from a former roomie, but I’m really liking your hair longer and the goatee!

You can never go wrong with a kilt and a goatee. Great picutres!

To quote the Genie from Alladin,
“Ooh! Muy macho!”

After reviewing the archives: keep the hair longer.
Wasn’t there a saxon braid hanging around here somewhere?

For ya’ll who have never seen the Kilted One in the flesh– he’s even cuter in person:)
Here’s my order for the calendar!
