No, I am not dead

Quite the contrary. I don’t believe it’s possible to feel this much discomfort when one has expired. I’ve got another of my apparently biennial illnesses that’s got me coughing and sneezing constantly. Hopefully the 50cc syringe of orange juice that I just mainlined into my femoral artery will help with my recovery. It has to, because I’m flying to the New York area to join Lilith in her Lair of Lunacy for the weekend. There are plans of knitting, visiting yarn stores, wearing lots of wool (they have this thing called “Winter” up there) and absolutely no Superbowl watching. It’s going to be a fun vacation.

Provided, of course, I get this crap out of my system in the next 24 hours. Geez.

I’ve acquired a new knitting bag for the trip, and I’m winding up some yarn to take with me so I can get progress made during the flights. I’m still working on the shawl and the socks - yes, I know, I knit glacially.

Oh, for the record, I missed the first part of my resolution for the new year: I did not do a century ride this month. Yes, I suck. I still plan to get in twelve this year.

More details on everything when I get back. For now, I’m loading another ampule of OJ and going back to bed to get some pre-flight knitting done.

I hope you’re feeling well enough to really enjoy your trip! And I’m glad to know I’m not the only slow knitter around!

  2. Suzy Says:

Have you called your mother the doctor? ;)
Hope you enjoy the NY winter, I do not miss it one bit!
    Feel better.

Get well! Flying while sick is no fun! And stay warm — you ARE taking pants, aren’t you?

  4. Lilith Says:

He better not be taking pants! The S’nB ladies up here are expecting a kilted Texan. ;)

  5. Carol Says:

Zinc lozenges help to get over the cold. Just don’t take more than the recommended amount…it can make you nauseous!

Give me a shout when you’re ready to do the first Century. I know some good flat ones to start out with.

  7. Wendy Says:

I hear they don’t have mountain cedar trees in New York. So, wow - breathing cedar-free air and wearing wool with complete comfort? Sounds like heaven to me. Get well and have fun!

He can wear pants and a kilt, the mystical winter of the Northeast has ways of niggling breezes where they ought not to go. I go with my aforementioned suggestion (when you were debating about going to an SnB in a kilt on your scooter) … wear detachable pants. This way you stay warm when outside and when you get amongst the knitters you can reveal your true identity by whipping off your pants and behold there you are in your kilt- warm legs exposed. Plus, you’re a kilted knitting Texan, its kind of expected.
Now, about the illness, I can’t really give you any advice as someone who suffered the 2 month cold/flu/ebola/motaba thingy I had. I say… OJ, Chicken Soup, Zinc, Echinacea, Rest, Excercise, Prayer, and soap operas and/or the Price is Right.

    get better!

So sorry you aren’t feeling well. Elderberry juice packs more vitamin C than OJ and it somehow interferes with viruses so recovery time is faster. I had the flu last year, drank lots of Elderberry juice and only had chills and fever for one day. I was a bit of a zombie but could function for the rest of the week. It was the least disgusting bout of the flu I’ve ever had.

As for winter here in NY, this one has nerve calling itself winter. All together we’ve had about two inches of snow and only a handful of cold days. You might be able to get away with wearing the kilt after all.

Chicken soup with loads of fresh garlic, and peppermint tea. Though it’s probably too late for now…hope you’re right as rain soon! Enjoy *gasp* winter!

  11. Juno Says:

I really do not think that OJ is supposed to injected. Ingested, yes.

Tho’ an easy mistake to make. When feverish.

  12. bonnie Says:

Oj is good, but soup is better!

  13. carrie Says:

I hope you feel better! Or if you run a fever, that the cold weather feels good to you….

It was very nice meeting you!!! Next time, I think you are required to stay longer! Feel better! :)

I remember when I was out for a week from being sick. Hope you get better soon!

Feel better, darlin! Sending invisible Vitamin C to you through the ether. Don’t forget your EmergenC, it’s fought off most of the crap going around this season…
