Two missed deadlines
Yup, I missed my first two deadlines of the year - the century ride and the shawl.
Fuck it. Shawl’s done.
And the voices in my head some nice people asked me to post the first picture of the completed shawl - it’s too big for me to get a decent picture anywhere in my tiny home, so please excuse the crudeness of this shot. It’s blocking awkwardly on a chaise lounge right now, so hopefully some of the wrinkly-ness of the edge will come out.
And now, socks ahoy! Damn the Kitchner stitch, full speed ahead!
Arrrr!
And, by the way, Icelandic Bind-Off is a very stretchy bind-off used in the edge of the shawls from Myrna’s wonderful book. It is accomplished by sliding the right needle through the first stitch and under the front of the second stitch, knitting through that stitch and then sliding the new stitch back onto the left needle. I’ll try to get some pictures of the process later. It’s one of the few stitches that I *must* look at my needles to knit, and it’s fairly slow. Hence, the blowing aspect it has. Still, it does make for a very fine end to a shawl.

Love the colors in the shawl. I know it is lack of space…..but why was it that you did not REALLY block it? Looking forward to the pics of the cast-off I am too lazy to go look at Myrna’s book!

Ooh, very pretty!
-I will have to avoid it at all costs.
The Icelandic bind-off does sound kind of sucky, -or blowy, same difference, I guess

Being the fool that I am, I’m going to check out this Icelandic bind-off. I think Vicki Howell did it on Knitty Gritty a couple of days ago. Hmm…
The shawl is a-rockin’. I dig the colors.
