This weekend I went up to mom’s place and hung out with her and Dan and, as always, had a lovely time. Dan was playing the Fredericksburg Crawfish Festival on Saturday with the Band-Aids. They rocked, as they always do. I got to the fair a little bit late on account of the rain (and the fact that I’m late for just about everything), and it was nice to walk to the fairgrounds from my distant parking spot while listening to the band’s sweet Dixieland floating to me on the wind.
Saturday night I found myself playing the role of wedding photographer. Dan & mom’s neighbors tied the knot after being together for eight years, and they threw a lovely party complete with really tasty catering and a cowboy band. This is a shot of the happy couple (did I mention this is their back yard?):
During the day on Sunday we went in to town for the Arts & Crafts Fair, which was a muddy mess but a lot of fun. There was one lovely young woman from Austin selling handmade glass bead jewelery and demonstrating the process. Craft with a blowtorch - how fun is that?
Over the course of the weekend, the sore throat I’ve been experiencing lately bloomed into a really painful infection that made it painful to swallow. I was guzzling hot tea with a little bit of honey each night so I could get comfortable enough to sleep. Why could I not have been blessed with a working immune system? Geez.

Y’know what they say about PKs (preacher’s kids) being devilish? Maybe DKs (doctor’s kids) are sickly?
So - have ya started pricing blowtorches yet?

My favorite cold remedy you can get at any Asian market. It’s called Yin Chiao. Also available at Whole Foods market but much cheaper at an Asian market. As near as I can tell, it has anti-viral properties. Take 2 tabs four times a day for two or three days. I promise it works.
