My girlfriend Lilith is visiting again this week and we’ve been busy. And lazy. And busy again. Chalk it up to my complete lack of planning skills – I knew there were some things I wanted to accomplish while is down here, but I never really came up with a plan for how and when to accomplish them all. So, we’ve basically been flying by the seats of our kilts and having bursts of activity interspersed with periods of complete sloth. It’s been good.

You may have heard about the flooding Texas has been subjected to this month. It’s been pretty bad in parts, but I’m thankful that the decade-long drought is finally over. Or maybe just paused. We’ll see. In any case, we had enough rain on Independence Day that the Kerrville fireworks display was postponed until Sunday. So Lilith got to ride up with me and see all the action.

Witness the action:

Lots more on my Flickr page.

One of the things I love about having company, romantic or otherwise, is that it inspires me to cook. (Having Lilith here is especially nice because it means I get to snog after cooking.) I’ve been making French Toast every morning, and one evening I made ravioli with a sausage meat sauce & risotto cakes:

It was nummy.

More reports of culinary adventures, movie reviews, and stories of burro love to come.

Your camera takes some kickin’ pics of fireworks. I was hanging out with friends at Mimi’s Cafe and we lost track of time. I guess we didn’t miss much.

So, since you’re cooking, would Lillith mind if the knitters invaded for some French toast…? C’mon, share the luv. Or please pass the maple syrup. Haha

ditto on the dibs for french toast…..and if we (I) knew all it took was company for you to want to cook…dang….I would have been happy to sacrifice myself – lemme know! hee

Woot…let’s hear it for snogging after cooking..ooh…and during…and….we go thru the same when my Honey is in town from the UK…

Have a wonderful visit you two!!

    Pardon me as I snicker……

There are very few activities that I can think of when SO visits that follow this exact pattern…… you’re testing pogo sticks aren’t you? That or eating lots of sugar.

    Kilted man on pogo stick….

So where do I sign up as company for my meal? Either you have huge plates or the amount of food on (Lilith’s) plate is the reason she is so slim! Been missing you at the YB on Sat. There are a lot of hens who miss the Kilted One! Glad you have been enjoying yourself…. πŸ˜‰

  6. Jess, of the Bugs Says:

…drought then flooding? That’s a recipe for a locust plague. Locusts, in their “solitary” form lay eggs each year. Some hatch where conditions are favorable and some do not. When several years of dry weather is followed by a year of more favorable conditions, all those eggs that have been sitting in the ground emerge all at once into the “gregarious” form of locust. Their behavior and sometimes their coloration changes in the gregarious form. And then they eat everything in sight.

Lovely fireworks pics. Anything interesting on the needles lately?

I hopped on the scale when I got home: no change. Trade school has really changed my metabolism, I guess. I wish I could’ve stayed in TX longer… Connecticut doesn’t feel right.

Y’all can have the syrup, but the butter is mine! πŸ˜‰

  8. Suzy Says:

Well, Lilith, it sounds like you need to make a geographical change if “Connecticut doesn’t feel right.” I am all for helping the Kilted One– or hadn’t you noticed?! I also enjoyed spending time with you at the YB when you were here last spring.
