Hi there,

We too did the yarn crawl. LOVED Stonehill in FBG, and Melanie at Yanivore, unfortunately the ladies at the Yarn Barn, seemed a bit "put out" that we were intruding on their space! Sad but true. Only one or two were nice to us. We had been "warned" about this situation by other ladies from the yarn crawl, so it couldn't have been just us. Perhpas they were just tired. LOVE the kilt! Erin Go Bragh!

If you find yourself in the Seattle area in May, you should check out our local yarn shop tour (www.lystour.com). 20 yarn shops in three days, starting in Bellingham (just south of the border) and going all the way down to Kent (just south of Seattle). You picked up a passport at one of the shops and got it stamped at each one. If you hit all 20 in the three days, you got entered into a drawing for a $400 gift certificate good at up to three of the shops on the tour (I was going to blow it all on the quiviut I found in one of the shops, but of course I didn't win). All of the shops had a free one-skein pattern, and the yarn to make the pattern was on sale. It was a good time.

David,
I might be able to help you out with some filler stuff for a newsletter. I'm absolutely brain-dead at the moment (starting a new job and egads, my feet are going to fall off.) Don't judge anything by my blog - it's more of a toy than anything really constructive (like yours!) Holler at me when you come home to wash your kilts and we'll figure something out....

The crawl was a blast. You were right about the next time I walked into a yarn store... The fam and I took a little hop to Austin and I walked out of HCW with some yummy sock yarn. *sigh* My wallet misses the money, but understands. You don't want to be around to see the damage I'm going to do at Kid 'n Ewe--Brook's Farm, here I come!

Sounds like great fun! I love the two new yarns. Can't wait to see what develops. Also, the cardigan looks great so far!

So, what kinds of yarn have you got there?

I'm sure that some of us will be happy to help you find patterns.

I did the Yarn Crawl on Sunday......on a bus with 35 knitters from Austin.
If you make it up our way (today is still part of the Yarn Crawl) we have 4 knitting shops now.
The Knitting Nest on Slaughter
Hill Country Weavers (my all time fav)
Gauge (just off 2222 and Mo Pac)
Bluebonnet Yarn Shoppe (Parmer and 1431)

I also found out there is a yarn shop in Burnet now! The owner and friends came on the bus tour with us.
Artisan-Yarn & Fiber Arts
107 E. Jackson Street
Burnet, Texas 78611
Can't wait to check it out!! WOO! HOO!
