Let’s get Physical
I had an appointment with my new endocrinologist yesterday. I’m a type 1 diabetic and I’ve been on my own for the last year, so it was really time to get on the ball and start managing my health better.
Most of the appointment was the usual new patient thing - filling out paperwork, waiting for my primary physician to fax over records, yadda yadda yadda. Then my new doctor went over my labs with me, pointed out the problem areas, and proceeded to give me an initial physical to check for things like neuropathy (making sure my nerves and blood vessels in my extremities were all good, which they were) and thyroid size. When it came time to do the “turn your head and cough” portion of the exam, he noticed for the first time that I was in a kilt. This part kept me laughing all day.
“Okay, now I need you to drop your . . . um, lift your . . . ” He stared for a second, nonplussed.
“Um, I need you out of that.”
All men should wear kilts to physicals. The time savings during exams would save billions, I tell you. Billions.

LOVE IT! The line is pretty interesting too - do you have a list of interesting lines you get while wearing a kilt? That one would have to be at the top of the list….

well, either your new doc is very focused or not very observant. For your sake, I hope he’s focused. It was so nice to meet you at Rhinebeck!
