Kaboom

I have got to stop going to Alamo Drafthouse on school nights.

I went there a couple years ago when Serenity came out, and a few minutes before the movie was supposed to start, I got an emergency page saying that the DNS system (which I was in charge of at the time) had died. I hauled ass back home and fixed it remotely.

Last night, a similar evening was underway when I got not one but three phone calls from separate people on my new team at work - apparently someone drove their truck into the transformers that powered one of our data centers, and to make a long story short, we had to take a lot of computers offline before they overheated. I was in the office unti almost midnight handling calls (which were for the most part very pleasant and not hostile at all), then I went home and had horrible cramps until about six-thirty in the morning.

But we’re getting our jobs done and handling all the issues as quickly as possible. This isn’t the best week by a long shot, but I really love this job.

yep…don’t you just love “computers”? That’s how my Mom describes my job. I’m in software actually and our oracle server crashed yesterday and all our databases have to be revived. Yes…just have to love “computers”.

All I can say is “mercury in retrograde”

Computer gremlins all over the place. I’m a webmaster so I was putting out fires all week. TG it’s over.
