Libya

I wish my grandfather was alive right now.

He was a career Air Force officer. He was one of the last commandants of Wheelus Air Force Base in Libya until Quaddafi closed the country to the United States. He was a very black-and-white kind of man; he and I would not agree on many things today. But I really wish he’d lived to see what is going on in that country today.

One of the few things he and I would agree on is that Quaddafi is garbage. I’ve seen yeast infections that were less opportunistic than that waste of air. The leader of Libya is an unapologetic terrorist who embraced the United States in the wake of September 11, 2001 and secured the release of his terrorist hound Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi in 2009 because of his new found partnership with the west. This week, Quaddafi has been denouncing the popular uprising in his country as the work of drug-addled US sympathizers and Zionist stooges.

He’s a piece of garbage. I hope he shares Mussolini’s fate.

I’m going to go pet my dog now.

One of the most courageous things I’ve ever seen in public life was the denouncing of Quaddafi by Libyan diplomats to the UN. Although I’m holding my breath for fear of widespread war resulting from all the demonstrations in the Mideast, I also have great hope.

Yes, Qaddafi is not only garbage, he is insane garbage. A very very scary man, although we seem to have forgotten that recently. (And I say that although I hate agreeing with Ronald Reagan!)

David, I love you. I’ve been thinking about him and Grandma ever since this started. Do you know our grandmother was the last military dependent to leave Tripoli? She stayed on after all the others left to keep up morale. I remember her telling me that they knew something ominous was happening when one day none of the Libyan nationals working on base showed up. It must have been terrifying.

Uhm, gee. Tell us how you reeeeallly feel. I am with you. Garbage attracks garbage. One can only hope that they all could just finish themselves off and God can sort it all out. Truth be, we are beginning to be a minority…and it sucks. And our “government” snivels around placating and otherwise enabling these bastards at our expense all the while paying lip service to what Joe Public thinks they want to hear. Uck.

I’m not sure you are with me. It sounds like you’re lumping the Libyan people in with the garbage there. I disagree.
