Finished Café Bastille Cables

Monday, October 3rd, 2005

And voilá – one sweater, hot off the needles! Well, not hot. It had all night to cool off. Now it’s ready to provide toasty comfort to its new owner throughout the bone-chilling six minutes of Texas Winter. Now I’m all geared up for my Autumn knitting. Next project!

A good evening

Sunday, October 2nd, 2005

Today was a good day, followed by a good evening. I finally saw Serenity, and it exceeded my expectations. I had to do a short workout with Maya afterwards to burn off the extra adrenaline. I’m definitely going to be seeing that movie again. The only question is whether or not I’m going to be […]

Look out, it’s armed!

Here they are, resplendent in their Autumnal greyness, the body and sleeves of the Café Bastille Cables, worked up in Rowan Magpie. Note that there are still live stitches all around the neck hole. I need to pick those up after sewing everything together and work an inch or two to create a collar. I’ve […]

Amazing what you can do with only *one* needle

First sleeve sewn in. Hurrah! I think this is the first garment I’ve made where I had to sew in a sleeve. I can’t say I care much for the experience. It took me four whole episodes of Sex in the City to get just that one sleeve put in. Jeez. And I still need […]

Sew little time

Monday, September 26th, 2005

I went by the Yarn Barn for the first time in ages on Saturday and cranked away on the final sleeve of the Café Bastille Cables until it was finally done. I had a funny sense of finality as I bound off the last stitch. It’s been a while since I was at the end […]

So very close

Tuesday, September 20th, 2005

As promised, here is a photo of the almost-completed second sleeve of the Café Bastille Cables sweater! No, wait . . . that’s a video card. I have no idea how that got in there. Ahem Here we are – the second Café Bastille Cables sleeve along with its mate! After working the the interminable […]

Quite nearly there

Monday, September 19th, 2005

Believe it or not, I’m almost done with the Café Bastille Cables sweater! So very, very close! I’m definitely going to have it finished this week. Well, maybe not the sewing in of ends. I freaking hate that part. But I’ll have all the pieces put together. Come to think of it, I also may […]

Of Fiber and Flying Fur

Monday, September 12th, 2005

I should point out, first off, that the squirrel made it. I went to Kerrville this weekend to just kind of hang out and get a few small things done. I took my laptop from work and the sleeve from the Café Bastille sweater. Between the two of them, I figured, I had plenty to […]

Commence the Ensleevement

Thursday, May 5th, 2005

A bunch of things are going on right now in my knitting and blogging worlds. Last night I went down to the Candlelight Coffee House/Wine Bar and started cranking on the sleeves for the Bastille Cables sweater. I think I’m going to have to re-do my work though, because the cabled section of the sleeve […]

Hey look! Knitting!

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

Be it ever so minute, it’s progress. Our sweater so far: This is the completed torso of the Café Bastille Cables sweater with an added couple of inches of ribbing. I don’t think ribbing looks too out of place. And Thomas just tried it on and it fits very well. Woo-hoo, let’s hear it for […]
