My Sweater Is Finished!

Thursday, March 18th, 2004

Perfectum est.

I guess I’m going to call it the St. Patrick’s Day Aran from now on since I finished it yesterday. It’s heavy and scratchy. Way too warm for the climate I live in. There are two obvious errors in the big Saxon Braid cable down the middle of the front and [...]

Pentultimate Post

And as it started, so it finishes. The Aran started off with a 1×1 ribbed collar knit in the round. Now at the end, it’s a 1×1 ribbed waistband knit in the round. Same thing really, just bigger.

Today’s high in San Antonio will be 86° with sunny skies. Perfect sweater weather, [...]

Stay On Target . . .

Tuesday, March 16th, 2004

I started the ribbing at the waistband of the Aran after work today. I changed from the #7 bamboo needles I was using to a set of #5s from my Denise interchangable set. Unfortunately, the fat plastic cable on the Denise needles drags something awful on this wool. It’s a struggle to [...]

Speed Bumps

So close. So incredibly close. Yet still not complete.
Here’s where we currently stand with the Aran:

I spent quite a while on it yesterday. The only big interruptions were stopping to watch In The Cut, and incredibly bad movie that I really, really wish I had not seen. At least, I wish [...]

Hey, how’d that happen?

So I’m sitting on the sofa at Kelly’s right now, borrowing her laptop to post to the blog. Bailey is sitting next to me, panting and getting occasional tummy pets. The aran in in my lap.
My sweater is almost done. Somehow it seemed like there was almost a foot to go on [...]

Crank Crank Crank

Wednesday, March 10th, 2004

Last night, Ruth and I had a true stitch and bitch. She brought a little white sweater whose buttons kept breaking and replaced them all. I brought the Aran and cranked along happily for an hour or two.
I surprised myself by bitching at great length about work problems. Kinda fun - I [...]

A day of knitting

Thursday, February 26th, 2004

Last night after work, I went to a downtown coffee shop and had a light dinner and some coffee, then worked on the Aran for a while. A friend called up and asked how much more work I had to do on it. I did some quick calculations to try and figure out [...]

A bit more progres

Sunday, February 22nd, 2004

It may not be obvious because of the perspective here, but I have added a little more length on my beloved Aran:

Almost done. This weekend I took the last of the three huge skeins of yarn that my Mom got me over a year ago and wound it into three balls to complete this [...]

Enlightened Trudging

Tuesday, February 17th, 2004

I am making progress on the Aran sweater. It’s slow and it’s gradual, but it is happening. Pictures won’t do a lot to mollify you because the progress is so painfully slow. I’ll put some photos up in another week or so to give you an idea of how things are going.

Better Photos

Wednesday, February 11th, 2004

Again, not any noticable progress, but I think this is a much better picture of the Aran sweater:

I’m definitely going to spend most of my weekend on it. It’s getting so close!
The Urban GypZ asked me what I’m going to work on next. I think I’ll ressurect the candle-flame panties - er, shawl. [...]
