Bowtiful

Friday, November 11th, 2005

Bowfire is very obviously influenced by Riverdance and its various offshoots. Strong Celtic themes, ensemble performances with solo breakouts, and a very simple stage all reminded me of shows I’d seen before. And then, of course, there was the stepdancing that three of the performers periodically broke into. Dead giveaway, that.
But the [...]

Kid ‘n Ewe 2005

Saturday, November 5th, 2005

Hey, you looking for Kid ‘n Ewe?

Psst. C’mere.

whisper whisper whisper

What did the alpaca tell me, you ask?
I have no idea. I don’t speak Peruvian.
Kid ‘n Ewe was much smaller this year. There were maybe a third as many vendors as last year, but thankfully, one of them was Brooks Farm. Brooks [...]

Whoops

Friday, November 4th, 2005

I just realized that with my migration to the new blog digs, I broke all the links to Visiknit (aka the Cable Grapher)! Whoops.
I’ll get it up and running tonight.

A bad week for pancreases

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2005

It’s been a bad week for pancreases.
A friend of my family has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Apparently he’s got a very positive outlook though. He witnessed and survived some of the worst horrors of the last century, and regards every day he’s had since then as “gravy”.
Also, my little girl Morgan started [...]

Interpreted Rhyme

Tuesday, November 1st, 2005

This just came to me in the shower. It’s a slight twist on an existing geek poem. It rhymes, but only after it’s been interpreted. If anyone’s seen anything like this before, let me know. I’d like to think I just stumbled on a new literary mechanism, but I’m sure there [...]

Eleven slightly irritated people of mixed gender

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

So I got selected for the jury. I suspect it was because I was juror #3 as we walked in for selection, and I didn’t say or do anything that was disagreeable enough for either side to eliminate me. I was a little shocked when they called my name to go sit in [...]

Aw, Crap.

Monday, October 24th, 2005

Today I was selected to sit on a jury. Whoopee.
And for some bizarre reason, they don’t allow knitting needles in the courthouse. I am in hell.

Migrated!

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

Okay, I’m migrated - this blog is now being served up by WordPress. I’m very happy about this. Hopefully we’ll see a decline in the whole comment spam thing…
I need to do a bunch of tweaking, but the (not very) heavy lifting is done.

I found you, you little bastard!!!

Thursday, October 13th, 2005

After hunting down a bug in my code since Monday, I finally found the little bastard. I squish you! Squish, squish!!!!
This is why I do what I do. I like solving puzzles. And although I don’t sell myself very well in person, I am really fucking good at it.
